Bought a book via Amazon Kindle. My old method of ripping the book to use on other devices doesn’t work on new Amazon releases anymore; maybe someone knows a way? I asked Claude and ChatGPT to help me out, and they refused. I asked Kimi to make me a PDF and EPUB version of the book. It built a script to screenshot every page and rebuild the book. It took about five minutes. Now I have the book; I can use it on any device that I bought. Pictures and everything are in the right spot, no text errors I can see so far either. Man, I can see Anthropic and OpenAI will cry louder and louder to ban China models soon.

I now go to z-library, its free, if its there, straight download. There are others but Z is the most convenient.

Nice! I left the kindle ecosystem last year because they stopped supporting downloading my own books that I paid for. Used Calibre to convert them to epubs and now I’m hosting them on my own ebook server. All set up by my Hermes agent running Deepseek.

Nope. Amazon has killed drm-free books. This is why I bought a Kobo. Using an LLM to reconstruct the book like that is very cool. Epubs are the best!

Not for new books, but the entire Project Gutenberg catalog is available to download as epubs and I think PDF on #Alexandria. https://alexandria.gitcitadel.eu/

When we publish our books on Amazon, we're given an option that blocks free use. We don't click that but I think most people do, because they want to protect their products and make people pay for them. We think more that if you bought it, it's yours to use how you want, and if you copy it and give...
