I lived that. There was no war from 1948,well before the European Union. Nobody wanted a single country, all wanted just relaxed border control, free movement and trade deals. They got a centralized unelected elite that impose regulations that are strangling the economy and wiping out the unique characteristics of the single countries. Plus there is forced acceptance of immigration.

To set this true. European representants are elected by the population. So they have a democratic legitimation. I would also think, that more sovergnity needs to go to the local governments. To minimize the influence of the european union would defnitly stabilize the union. But I refuse to follow ...
