I just heard NPR talk about the use of ellipses as a passive aggressive tone to younger generations.

I use it all the time… as a pause in my voice or my train of thought. Especially on my site.

Additionally, I sometimes perceive smileys as passive aggressive. Especially the pervasive Smug Smiley...
