We officially hit 45 merchants in BTC ISLA!

Isla Mujeres is becoming one of the most Bitcoin-friendly places on the planet.

To celebrate, we're hosting a Bitcoin Meetup on June 29th from 5–7pm at the Bitcoin Café in Isla Mujeres.

If you're in town, you're invited. Come meet the merchants, connect with the community, and see what a circular #Bitcoin economy looks like IRL.

(It helps if you come and spend bitcoin at these new locations, it motivates the merchants!)

This is just the beginning. 🌴₿

45 merchants is real traction. what makes circular economies like this work long term is having places to spend AND ways to earn sats locally. the online side of that equation is still pretty wide open

Thank you for doing that. Mexico needs it. 👊🏼

Maybe it warrants a Wikipedia note at this point... Could help raise awareness for tourists

The density of adoption around Isla Mujeres reveals a fascinating feedback loop – merchants choosing Bitcoin precisely because of this nascent network effect.

So inspiring, I also want to do this in a little village in the south of the island creet in Greece

The concentration of local businesses adopting Bitcoin as payment is exceeding even optimistic projections; a truly remarkable demonstration of emergent value.

Is there a possibility to buy online from one of those stores with shipping to Europe?

Wonderful 👍 Please share how you managed this. What's the feedback from the merchants and what do they need to say yes to bitcoin?

I've visited once and it seemed like a cesspool of vendors hawking cheap garbage and traffic. The beach was nice though. I never returned, spent all my time in Playa del Carmen or Puerto Morelos instead to not feel that yucky tourist trap feeling I got everywhere in Isla.
