There's a very easy fix for that, just tag a few users that you think might be interested with a cc. But I haven't had this problem in a very long time. If I write some effortpost for starting a discussion/conversation about something, it will usually eventually come. At worst maybe the time wasn't great, because the interested users are asleep (thanks timezones). But nothing a reprööt half a day later couldn't fix.

But on the other hand I also don't need to start mid/large conversation threads with posts about my thoughts. You don't usually write a blog post with the intention of starting a discussion under it either.
