I'm a writer and my wife, an avid reader, doesn't like the kind of stuff I write.

I will not lie; it hurts.

I find it hard to write because I will almost never write something that she likes. I have no sounding board for "is this good?" only, "is this structurally sound" which is not nothing, but it's not the same as, "this is a really great story."

I hand-wrote ten 8 1/2 X 11 pages tonight. There's a bit of fleshing out to do, but, to me, it's a good story.

Nobody in my family (that I can convince to read something) likes what I write.

I like it.

But that's hardly enough to keep me going.

Are there any writing groups for short, weird fiction?
