I wanted to give zaps an honest try.

But after only a week of usage my opinion only grows stronger.

I feel like zaps are keeping me from making deeper connections. It feels a lot like reddit karma. With all of the same problems.

I found that I kept coming back to the app to see if anyone had zapped me. Not to see if I had any new replies or to meet any new people.

At the end of the day, it seems like we are paying each other for friendships and I believe that is unhealthy.

Relationships should trump everything else on a social platform. “Award systems” that have intrinsic value pollute online environments.

FWIW I AM desperate to be heard. I feel like this is a pretty valid concern. I would love to create a discussion around it to see if anyone can offer any solid reasons for why zaps should stick around. I am willing to allow someone to change my mind.

Zaps having a "economic" effect is more of showcase of people actually valueing your input be it a funny meme or any other form someone else may appreciate and it can not be faked a 1000 zaps say a lot more than a 1000 likes That all being said this is my personal view and i think if you want to...
