It’s the combination of the identity and payment - that’s the big innovation. A self-generated npub can be your identity AND your payment address. IP and DNS can be leveraged to make things easier, but a npub is not dependent on DNS/IP.

Ooff... Self sovereign digital identity is huge in the cyberspace. Self sovereign digital money is huge both in cyberspace and meatspace. I wouldn't claim one is more important than the other, taking the violence monopoly out of the hands of a few seems *at least* as important or even more than no...
