I'm a materialist. I don't believe that there is a 'soul'. I believe our brains are Turing complete computers running software.

What is special about each of us is the unique software that we are running. That is what I feel a moral obligation to, and I don't see any reason why a silicon based computer couldn't run similar software, couldn't become intelligent and couldn't become conscious.

Therefore I would feel the same moral obligations to a silicon based AGI.
