After an interview with the Jew Henry Kissinger, Luis Carrero Blanco conveyed the impression that he had been threatened.

The Americans offered him all kinds of help if Spain abandoned its ambition to become a nuclear power and signed the NPT.

The conversation between the two became heated:

Kissinger stated: "Spain is becoming a dangerous nation."

Carrero replied, lowering the tone: "what is happening is that Spain is becoming an important nation."

Kissinger concluded: "Yes, but when Spain is important, it is dangerous."

24 hours after this tense interview and Spain’s refusal to give in on its nuclear ambitions, Carrero was assassinated.
