So Dashjr’s picking Bitcoin’s new mining algorithm with a Testnet4 dice roll today.

Quick catch up. BIP-110 needed 55% of miners signaling for it. Got 2.56%. Two blocks mined on the fork and then it just stalled out.

So now the move is a proof of work change. Watch Testnet4, grab the next block hash, last character picks the algorithm off a list nobody agreed on til this morning.

One of the Knots guys said the reason for ditching SHA256d is to fire the miners, not because it’s broken.

We watched this movie in 2017. Different fight, same instinct. Small group decides the majority’s the problem and hard forks their way out. Ended in Bcash last time.

Watching this one play out live today.

I'm not ideologically against anybody forking the code for any reason. That's freedom. Their logic however is baffling. They're not 'firing' the miners by doing this. The miners are going to keep hashing SHA256 on the same network. Their fork doesn't erase the original. Random selection of a hashing...

This is exciting. This is my first fork (won't be the last). It's been an entertaining ride.

Consensus is weak with this one.

Thanks for the tldr. What’s the likely path for this going forward?

The cool part is the list is weighted using like logic. No doubt he has some washboards set up to take advantage of the weighting. Scammers be scamming.
