This is from @jasonmauck1 on Twitter.

This guy is a mad scientist farmer and here he is showing what is called "relay cropping". He plants winter wheat and then comes back in the spring and plants a summer crop. The wheat protects the summer crop until it has a good start then after it's harvested the summer crop takes off.

Jason gets better crop performance with less inputs by doing this.

better than mono-cropping, for sure, but, still net loss / export of nutrients depleting the soil. adding animals into the rotation like Joel salatin & geoff lawton talk about helps build soil. #permaculture

I love seeing innovation like this. Too much of the regen ag space is a guy with a scyth in one hand and his pet hen (who lives in his house with him) trying to harvest amaranth on the third night of the waxing gibbous moon while the crows eat his corn and his kids mom secretly feeds them boxed panc...

We need more of this sort of innovation. Even better if it can be with non-GMO crops and organic methods so the end product is healthy food. I think indoor is an interesting innovation for some crops: https://youtu.be/8sOEB2m0m9Y

Woah this is wicked cool! I wonder how Does he set up the combine to precisely harvest the wheat and leave the succession crop in tact?! 🤯
