last night, on the way home from my parents house, my wife was trying to explain to me why stickers, in the shape of a ribbons for a cause make her mad.
i was laughing at first. but the more she explained it, i started to realize her point was actually in Jean Baudrillard’s ‘Simulation and Simulacrum’…That the real becomes represented by a simulation, and eventually, the simulation becomes simulacrum when the simulation starts actually being viewed as the “real” by a majority.
She’ll never read a stuffy french nihilist philosophers rantings, but the fact that she observed and derived that observation from ribbon stickers on suburban minivans made me think, “F*** youre hot”.
