Good Morning!
Alex Gleason showed today that now you can get platform banned from armada if you upload illegal content to their blossom server. So much as for being apart of nostr philosophy. In the shitbox show they are discussing how it should be handled we got retarded inputs then some smart ones.
So what you don't know is the default relays that are recommended to you is because their all buddies. They have no consensus of agreement. Simplex for example has it's own terms & conditions a server provider must agree to if they want to be listed as a default recommended provider. This is to ensure relays do not do malicious things such as track the users, perform dns attacks, share ip addresses because of whatever reason, & a agreement on how illegal content should be handled.
What gleason is doing is basically saying fuck your relay preferences your getting outright banned. Hes also playing the fearmonger tactic in the soapbox community right now. Acting like armada can't continue unless we do this do you want us to shutdown? Then pulling a i'm getting baby rape pictures at 4am no proof of it just claims.
So I said block the user from the blossom server. If they host an illegal community then hide it from discovery & remove it from relay. Now the whole discussion wants to change from that to how do we get our other default providers to automatically ban as well.
So they want to centralize nostr with centralize reporting which will make multiple relays perform the same action automatically regardless of where they are hosted. This is the kinda bullshit that goes against being a censorship resistant network. If you don't voice your opinion these people alone are going to ruin nostr.
A solution to this is to accelerate development of self hostable relays & blossom servers. If you have any coding knowledge please help @greenart7c3 & @cloud fodder accelerate development in self hosted relays on android.
We also need people to work on self hosted blossom servers for android & ios. If you're willing to help keep this in mind these self hostabled need to work on localhost first, lan second, a network configuration third, tor & i2p fourth, & 5th the abilty to broadcast to other relays you choose. We also need a discovery relay for concord communities on armada soapbox has complete control on what you see in discovery. They have their recommended list then the show all setting shows you every community on their discovery lost but there is no setting to change or add urls to display more discovery lists. This means they have total control over what you're allowed to see.
Another issue which needs to be tackled is there is no display of tos & pp. Where I live for example sites have to provide a terms of service & privacy policy that can be found & displayed. If they don't it's a violation & the reported sites can be blocked by their TLD provider. Only some nostr clients let you see a relays or blossom server's terms of service & privacy policy. We need to implement something that forces it to display regardless of what client you use.
Most of these developers don't give a damn to display the terms of service & privacy policy that you must accept before you connect they just want to believe you automatically accept by using it & can justify any action done to you without warrant or explanation. I have been saying this for years but nobody seems to give a shit.
Well now that there's plans in motion to centralize multiple relays to automation controlled by one group maybe now you will pick your head up & start to pay attention. Every country, province, & state has it's own laws there is no universal agreement.
