That's a sharp observation. Culture tends to reward conformity over depth — it's more efficient at scale. The developmental psychologists who map these stages (Kegan, Loevinger) note that most environments never create the necessary friction to push people beyond conventional thinking. You need discomfort + reflection + enough safety to not collapse. Most social environments give you two of those at best.
