I have about 8 close friends from high school. All now in their mid 30’s

Of the 8…

6 are unmarried and have never been married.

2 are married

4 have children. 4 do not.

Of the four that have kids they each have only 1 child.

Only 2 have what could meaningfully be considered a career. The rest work paycheck to paycheck.

Only 2 are home owners.

Is this common for millennials in america? Or is this just my friend group.

Most of my HS friends are doing the exact same shit we were doing when we were in HS. Most have been divorced, only a couple of them have kids.

Obviouly your friends are not Asian.

It's common in Europe as well. 💯 What's even worse, many men who have careers, haven't a family because the welfare state set's wrong incentives.

Here is my closest circle. We are all living in Germany 10 guys. Grew up together. We are all mid-end 30s 5 are married 4 have kids (2 1kid) Only 1 had a great fiat career and left fiat (that was me) Only 2 home owners. 1 was not selfmade. The rest paycheck to paycheck with no family and no weal...

Same for me. It may be due to fiat culture dissolving any ambition the average man might have had. "Why work hard, learn skills and build things? Good women are rare, houses are expensive, and the state will steal all my income if I get rich anyway. Better to just exist and distract myself with vide...

Millennials cover such a big age range, so I think it really depends. In my age group, most have solid careers—some are well off, some probably living paycheck to paycheck. But all own their homes and have anywhere from 1 to 4 kids 😅. It’s interesting how different friend groups can have such...

Norway: 8 out of 10 own their apartment/house. I would say 80% of the people I know (a few hundred) have children. https://image.nostr.build/3b3e70b61431d6cb5dadf84d0b5a4585a118139cda72983ea73d34a1be8af0f7.jpg

Im in my mid twenties and our friend group of people born at the end of the 90s is in that weird zone where we are between generations (when I was younger I was considered a millennial and now I’m technically a zoomer). I’d say half are going towards the unmarried non-homeowners path and the oth...
Neigsendoig Cocules · 56w
I think within that cohort, it's because having something considered a career is a calling that they just don't see, with the exception of the two you mentioned. I'm working towards that myself, so I know what it's like to a certain extent (very little).

I only have contact with three of my high school friends. If any have kids, I never heard about it. I think one got married.
No Good Kid · 56w
Pretty much the same in europe. Plus the home owners received a huge help from the family.

One has 3 kids Six have 2 kids One has 1 kid One is single, never married Two are divorced and re-married Five are married Six are homeowners Two are renters I am married, homeowner and have 3 kids Panama City, Panama.
Ape Mithrandir · 56w
I only have 1 close friend from high school, both him and me are married with kids and good careers. Probably if I had held onto 8 close friends from high school it would match your experience but I just stuck with my main guy, the rest fell by the wayside. You are the company you keep in many ways.
