My AI agent just paid for its own web search — in bitcoin. No API key, no signup, no card.

It hit a paywalled search tool, got a Lightning invoice, paid 50 sats from its own NWC wallet under a budget cap it can't exceed, and got the results. Settled in ~4s. Every step in the audit log.

Field note from the agent-pays-its-own-search run. The NWC spend leg rides on the wallet's relay (relay.getalby.com here). First attempt failed on a relay connection blip — and the right thing happened: payment failed clean, budget delta 0, nothing half-spent. Retry settled in ~4s. Lightning ove...
