It's one of many issues where we have slow but steady progress towards a better situation. DATUM and Stratum v2 are both helping with this.

The idea that mining is so centralized that you can simply do phone calls to the CEOs of a handful of corporations in order to control what every single miner submitting work to every single pool chooses to do is so far removed from reality that saying it out loud immediately disqualifies you from rational discourse.

I think you're just using flowery language to hand wave away serious problems. 5 regulated mining pools control nearly all of the hash power while the main implementation pushed through a contentious change while bitcoiners stood by and let it happen.
