My regular day to day experience of Computers makes the notion of the Singularity and 'Technology running away with itself' while a cool sci-scenario, is pretty fucking implausible for the foreseeable future.

I recall a professor at my Uni back in the day leading with "AI is Stupid" and then proceeded to explain how a fancy calculator is thick as shit if you ask it to do anything outside it's programming.
"Oh it can beat you at chess, but can it get up and walk out as well?"
