Definitely not. MeshCore is much more widely used and network effect is everything.

I head that the Meshcore team recently split after one person hijacked the project (trademarked it) and most of them went back to Meshtastic.

I might be out of date though.

They didn't go to meshtastic. The project is well and alive at meshcore.io. Also with insane independent development of both firmware and apps
