Here’s everything I’ve raised from the crowdfunding campaigns so far: $15.05. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored and supported them. I haven’t touched this money yet. Every tip I’m using right now is coming from my own pocket, so I want to be transparent about that.
But something I read on the other platform really made me think: “Money attracts spam. Money creates problems. Money creates bad content.” And honestly, I can’t completely disagree. Once money becomes part of a social platform, some people will do anything to get it.. even create multiple dummy accounts, farm tips, and post meaningless content just for rewards. But here’s the controversial part: if you remove the rewards, will people still stay?
We’ve already seen people disappear simply because there are fewer tips. Some stop posting, some lose interest, and some only become active when there’s money involved. So what does that tell us? Are people here because they genuinely enjoy the community, or because they expect to be rewarded for being here?
At the same time, I don’t think rewarding good users is necessarily a bad thing. People put time and effort into creating content, commenting, supporting others, and helping a community grow. The problem is finding a system that rewards genuine participation without turning the platform into a competition for who can farm the most tips.
Maybe we’ve been looking at the problem from the wrong direction. Should every post really need a reward to be considered valuable? Should tips be an incentive, a thank you, or something completely different? And if there were no tips at all, how many of us would honestly continue using this platform?
And honestly, I want to give special appreciation to the users who continue to stay. Even if you don’t receive tips regularly, you still show up, post, interact, and support others. That kind of consistency is worth recognizing. Tips may come and go, but people who stay because they genuinely enjoy the community are the ones who help keep it alive.
