This attitude of blaming users for using the obvious routes to achieving bitcoin self custody is infuriating.. Before attacking the users we should look inward and accept that we had a go at bitcoin UX and have failed horribly so far. Just inexcusably horribly failed.

Ledger's own account said in 2022 that a firmware update cannot extract the keys, then shipped firmware 2.2.1 in 2023 that extracts seed phrase data from the Secure Element.
