so, I tried recreating my 2-homes-with-VPN-in-between setup, and here are things I found so far:
- "home router" is a good representation of an OpenWrt router - it doesn't support VLANs, only has two interfaces (LAN and WAN), cannot have static routes
- the proper "router" cannot act as a DHCP or DNS server
- a "server" cannot act as a DHCP server
- couldn't find a way to show routing table of a router
