Read the book but was also around during that time as well. Just not really involved. They are killing features and the ability to connect to older nodes. You either update or you get pushed off the network. That’s how. Can you connect to the original client ? Maybe you need to do your history.

There are still legacy nodes you can connect to. No features have been removed. You can still set OP_RETURN data limit in your config. Yes, you can in fact, connect to the original client. Bitcoin is always backwards compatible. You will just lose a lot of features that make Bitcoin a lot better b...
