Here's one of my favorites. The Becker/Ka-Bar version of the Kephart.



Amazing story behind this knife. Horace Kephart, outdoor writer, came up with this design over a hundred years ago. A handful were made at the time. Drawings of it, of course, were published in his book, and knife makers have been making "Kephart" knives for decades.

But none of them got it right, because the subtleties of the blade shape didn't translate through a simple drawing. Then the only known original knife in private ownership came up for sale, was purchased by Ethan Becker, and he immediately noticed the nuances of the design (convex profile, tapered tang, etc). And he chose to share it with the world by allowing Ka-Bar to manufacture a production version based on the historic original.
