it's been 3-5 years and nostr never hit it off and most people left a year ago.....this is dead.

You’re not wrong about nostr struggling to attract and keep users. Many applications can be buggy and that can make people wanna bounce.

The biggest value proposition in my opinion isn’t the Kind 1 functionality for example, but rather the ability for cross-client identity. Developers and vibe coders will keep building apps on top of the protocol and users can migrate to whichever platform is best, whichever platforms they choose - keeping their profile with them. The other thing is the wide open landscape feels like a ground-level startup where you can get exposure and quality connections.

Regarding decentralized music… The collision of podcast RSS feeds with Nostr integrating Lightning combine in a way that is compelling to independent musicians. I don’t k on why musicians wouldn’t want to be a part of it. Many of us make art because it feeds the soul. Micropayments in the value for value ecosystem are just enough of an incentive for those folks to be inspired to keep producing. I vote for #DeMu!

Decentralized music isn’t dead. It’s evolving.

In my convo with @Matt Finlay he shares a perspective I think a lot of creators need to hear:

“It’s stagnated, but there are great people working in the background to lower the hurdles so more artists can jump in.”

We talk about the future of V4V, the challenges new artists face, and tools that aim to make decentralized publishing easier. We also listen to Matt’s track Daddy Government ft. Courage is the Cure.

Here’s a 30‑second clip from the episode. The full conversation and V4V music is linked as well.

I'm new to the decentralized side of things, so to me it feels like it's not dead cause it's just being born 🤣 but that also feels like something a noob would say

Decentralized music growth has stagnated compared to the rapid growth it experienced during the Boostagram Ball days. I think bit's really the listener growth that has stagnated - independent artists are still finding their way to the "valueverse". There used to be a great free wallet service that d...

Yeah, Christian put it nicely in the episode, talking about how eventually you gotta go digital. Ultimately, this is the essence of the Mastering philosophy - keep the music as high quality as possible until the absolute last bounce for whatever medium it will be delivered on. With RSS Music primarily being MP3s, you have to deal with the lossy file. But tracking to tape just has a special sound/vibe and in my opinion can contribute to a really good sounding end result, even as an MP3.

If I manage to master to tape in the future too, I could start making copies onto compact cassettes and ship them. That would be the ultimate analog experience! 😂 But you're right, the overall sound character of an analog production is different, although you compress this into a mp3 file at the ...
