I’m curious what the onboarding for new users is like. Do you set them up on a signer app right away? Or just get them into the app quickly without any mention of Nostr stuff?

They can choose to register with login.divine.video which is a custodial signing app that uses Secure Enclaves and can generate a nsec bunker URL, they can use a non-custodial key stored in the mobile os’s secure storage, or login via bunker / nostr connect. We don’t tell them about nostr unless they click on ‘login with an existing account’ or click learn more. To most users the login.divine.video is just like any oauth SSO login like Okta. It’s been tricky to meet the needs of very non-technical users while also not restricting the freedom of everyone.

The olympics are weird, lots of obscure sports. I found out today that New Zealand is building a second curling centre in order to increase their chances. They already have one near Queenstown on the south island, but now they're building a second in Auckland. This is after having failed to make the 2026 olympics in Curling. It'll mean New Zealand is the only country in the southern hemisphere that has dedicated curling facilities. Canada here we come!

Anil is on the board of @Electronic Frontier Foundation and used to be an executive with the blogging platform Six Apart, and Fastly. He also did a stint on the board of Stack Overflow.

He also talked about how AI is an major shift in tech but it’s in many ways it’s normal transformative technology, not something radically different than the internet, computer, steam engine, or other very important tech.
