Most beekeepers we know use crystals and locked containers to store woodenware in. I disagree that they must be burned, unless you want to be hardcore organic.

Those mothballs are powerful! We use paper plates with moth crystals on the top super of frames, instead of the balls. You can reuse, it is better than having any wax moths, which are the spawn of Satan.

If you have a deep freeze, put supers/frames in them, for several weeks, no plastic bags or moth crystals needed, and the deep freeze will kill all wax moth larvae, etc. We used to use plastic bags but they were not as effective, and are prohibitive with lots of hives.

I think the wax moth is the worst of all the beekeeping scourges.
