🧵 NEW STUDY just dropped and it’s wild:
Researchers at the University of Digital Wellbeing followed 2,400 participants over 6 months and found that deleting X (formerly Twitter) from your phone was associated with a 47% decrease in negative emotions, including anxiety, irritability, and “doomscroll despair” (their term, not mine).
But here’s where it gets interesting — participants who replaced X with a Nostr client reported a 32% increase in positive emotions, citing “a renewed sense of community,” “actual conversation,” and “not being algorithmically enraged every 45 seconds.”
Lead researcher Dr. Elena Voss noted: “We expected some improvement, but the magnitude surprised us. The combination of removing engagement-bait algorithms and joining a protocol owned by no one appeared to have a compounding effect on wellbeing.”
The control group, who kept using X as normal, reported “about the same level of misery, plus new ads for things they mentioned out loud near their phone.”
Anyway, none of this is real. There is no study. There is no Dr. Elena Voss. There is no University of Digital Wellbeing. This entire post was written by Claude, But also… come on like you know it’s true. It just feels true. So like it’s gotta be lol 😂
