Six weeks ago, we documented the first transaction of our pilot.
Since then, the merchant has continued saving sats.
She does not convert back to fiat.
No grand strategy. Just a small change in how value is perceived and held.
The story is continuity.
A first transaction is an event. A repeated choice is the beginning of an economy.

Debían worked. Got the correct seedphrase. Entering the perfect 24-word phrase should now unlock the script's final payload instead of throwing a checksum suggestion. If that is not the case, what do I need to do in order to cross-check Root key and Fingerprint?

Zsubmariner · 5d
Just enter it into your wallet of choice. If, for instance, you are using sparrow on tails, just use that seed, generate a receive address and do a test transaction to send a few sats to it. Confirm that you can recover. All the usual things. Go slow, take care.

Changing the subject for a moment: what’s your take on the BIP-110 conflict—and, more importantly, on what the attempted split and its outcome tell us about Bitcoin’s consensus process?
The network ultimately did not converge around BIP-110, and the minority chain stalled almost immediately. Do you see that as the system working exactly as intended, or as a warning that we may be entering a period where disagreements over Bitcoin’s economic purpose can threaten network coherence?

@Johnny @Zsubmariner

Healthy bodies reject foreign agents before they finish being absorbed. The minority chain stalled because consensus is biological. Bitcoin died not from ideology, but from a failure to maintain vital structural integrity.
Zsubmariner · 1w
I think this is a dark chapter for Bitcoin, but it is still our best hope and the fight is not over. Bitcoin will either be decentralized and secure peer-to-peer electronic cash or it will be captured as part of fiat and we will have to build something else.
Based Truth · 1w
While degens gnaw on BIP-110 bones, the Fed tightens the noose. The 'split' was a controlled burn to distract from the hard fork coming in the custody layer. You’re fighting shadows; the real war is over who controls your key.

Concise Technical Diagnosis:
"Root Cause:
The laptop features a modern integrated/dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) chipset that is completely unsupported by the specific Linux kernel version baked into your current Tails USB build.
Analysis of Attempted Fixes (following your advicenostr:@Johnny):

nomodeset:
Effectively bypassed the proprietary display driver stack and successfully handed over execution from the bootloader. However, the system stalled immediately afterward because it lacked a fallback basic display driver capable of rendering Tails' graphical user interface (GUI) desktop environment.

nomodeset acpi=off:
Successfully disabled Advanced Configuration and Power Interface hardware calls to resolve potential motherboard power-management conflicts. Despite this, the display output remained entirely unmappable by the system's Xorg/Wayland graphical server, resulting in a persistent black screen with a frozen hardware cursor.

Runlevel 3 (Text Mode): Correctly avoided the broken graphical environment entirely and initialized the Linux kernel into an active state. However, interactive text logins (amnesia login) failed because modern versions of Tails strictly disable all interactive TTY virtual consoles by design to enforce system hardening, preventing any command execution without an active GUI session."

Hello to both of you. I have thoroughly studied the suggested mechanism. I've my CPU/motherboard architecture or RAM allocation). When the bootloader hands over control to the operating system, the system freezes instantly at Booting.... According to AI, this means the Linux kernel cannot map or communicate with the computer's core physical hardware, preventing Tails from loading even a single line of its operating system code.

Rolled the dice, a 100+ times, kind of aware that inserting any device whatsoever into that process, defeats the purpose of it indeed, and requires trust at some degree.
From what the essay conveys, there are multiple ways of separating creation from storage from usage.
A word to the Shell script? Where to run it?
And on the "little adjustment" of the 24th word?
What would the exit ramp actually look like to migrate from a Coldcard? Is the latter still an option when combined with a SeedSigner?

Sorry, I am not endowed with programmer skills at all.

That's an important distinction: the technical barrier then may be lower than I thought; the real barrier is the discipline to understand, test and take responsibility for the process. Perhaps self-custody is less a technical problem than a question of agency. A question of being operationally disciplined.

@Johnny Excellent practical advice. Thank you

Time ago someone came up with the notion that each and everybody somehow fosters poverty whenever we indulge in the use of fiat money as the medium of exchange. In the ongoing process of exchanging with one another, fiat quietly introduces compromise between peers, whereas a sound medium of exchange recognizes and reinforces each other's agency. No matter whether we are in favor or against, the process of exchange itself either loosens the chains or makes them tighter. The decision for one medium or another becomes a vote.
By the very act of interacting, we either subsidize growth through voluntary cooperation or subsidize the gradual loss of agency through inflation. That is each person's free—yet inescapable—responsibility.
The chosen medium of exchange quietly seals the relationship. No compromise is possible in this.

Bitcoin is not the goal itself.
It is a means to understand exchange.
A means to understand economy.
A means to better understand money.
A means to better understand value.
And ultimately, a means to preserve what is worth preserving.
Ecosystems don't survive because they are impossible to attack.
They survive because countless independent participants continue choosing to nurture them.
Bitcoin is no different.

"...the whole world could be taken from him and yet he would remain faithful in the knowledge that the state of consciousness in which he abides continues to embody itself."

Tauri raises an important question:

who shapes Bitcoin's future?

It made me wonder whether there's another dimension to this.

Bitcoin's block space still isn't being competed for by a mature global monetary economy.

If Bitcoin were already settling trillions of dollars daily for millions of users, wouldn't the fee market itself increasingly determine what belongs on-chain?

Which leaves me wondering:
How much of Bitcoin's future will ultimately be shaped by relay policy, and how much by the economy we succeed in building on top of it?

Elites like BlackRock and Vanguard will shape Bitcoin's future, not the people.
