Recent US State Department budget cuts have unfortunately also impacted non-profits working on internet freedom.

The Proton Foundation has stepped in to support organizations such as Free Press Unlimited, Freedom House, and Tor, which are impacted, but these organizations need more support.

You can find out more about what they do and the $1 million that Proton is donating towards organizations defending democracy during this critical time here:

Unlike Big Tech, Proton will not comply with subpoenas from the incoming Trump administration (just like we refused all subpoenas from the Biden administration), as it would be illegal under Article 271 of the Swiss criminal code.

Today is the 10th anniversary of Proton's 2014 crowdfunding campaign where the community came together to make our journey possible.

From the start, Proton has always put people ahead of profits, and today we're formalizing that by transitioning towards a non-profit structure.

We're here to serve you, and we look forward to continuing to commit Proton to the public good for the next 10 years and beyond. proton.me/blog/proton-non-profit-foundation
