I certainly wouldn't claim that complex numbers are simple. I'm just claiming that they have a wide range of practical uses. I seem to remember a professor at my old uni claiming that there would be no flight without a solid understanding of imaginary numbers (the physics of flight involves solving cubics, which is the problem that led to Cardano discovering them). Also, electrical engineers use them all the time to avoid resorting to calculus. Quite often, the simplest way to prove something is with the complex form.

So yeah I find this all really interesting and I'm happy to discuss it and for you to disagree with me too. I guess it comes down to where you sit on the debate on whether maths is 'discovered or invented'. Personally I believe mathematicians make up new numbers, new geometries, new algebras all the time. And not necessarily for any practical benefit. That often comes later.....

i is useful in all sorts of contexts, since when multiplying two complex numbers together you simply multiply the moduli, but crucially sum the arguments (angle of rotation). In other words, complex numbers are super useful for describing anything rotating.

'Imaginary' is an unfortunate phrase for the square root of minus one which I think was down to an insult from Descartes because he believed they were fictitious. It suggests that complex numbers are less 'real' than negative numbers - for this reason John Conway proposed calling them 'lateral numbers', which might help clear up some misconceptions.

I'm desperate to know if any exchanges are planning to list the fork. So far I can't find any news of the big exchanges or the smaller ones planning to list it, but its clearly in an exchanges interest to list it so I'd be really surprised if no one did.

Can anyone provide me with any info on this?

The fee incentive for miners will depend upon exchanges listing btc110 and the subsequent market that forms - since miners have bills to pay and these tend to be invoiced in fiat. Are you aware of any exchanges that plan to list btc110?

The point of this post is that an opportunistic miner with say 50 eh/s (10x more than Roughnecks currently) can produce blocks 10 times faster and pick up the hefty fees. Then it starts intersecting if other miners took notice and start to freak out.
