A Nigerian knifeman who was jailed for threatening a British mother with a blade in front of her child has won a human rights case to stay in the UK.

Olajide Shinaba, 32, was taken in off the streets by the British woman, but after telling her he was leaving, he barged back in and pulled a knife out and lunged at her - while her young daughter watched on. The migrant claimed that if the woman, who was his friend, had been a man, he would have stabbed her. He was later jailed for 11 months.

Upon his release, he married a British woman in an 'Islamic ceremony', and he has two children with her.

The Home Office listed Shinaba for deportation back to his home country, however he has now successfully appealed.

An immigration judge allowed his appeal on human rights ground due to the 'significant obstacles of reintegration' he would face in Nigeria.

The Scottish Government has been ridiculed after claiming that if it wasn't allowed to house biological men in female prisons, it would render some transgender prisoners "sexless." It is the latest legal argument put forward by SNP Ministers battling to breach the Supreme Court gender ruling.

A legal submission put forward by the government's lawyers state that prisoners would be left "in an intermediate zone of neither one sex nor the other" if there were to be strict "segregation" by biological sex. The SNP's soft-touch approach to justice has been blasted after it was revealed that prisoners handed "life sentences" were actually being freed after serving as little as 10 years behind bars. Scotland is one of the only countries in the devolved world that doesn't offer "whole-life" tariffs.

More than 100 "lifers" have been let out since 2021, with dangerous cons - who are mostly murderers - being released at a rate of one every 11 days. These figures were published at a time when the Scottish Government is granting early release to hundreds of convicts to free up space in jails.

Police are giving in to Islamists because it is too challenging to confront them, Robert Jenrick has claimed. In an article for The Telegraph, the shadow justice secretary said that, unless Islamists were challenged, the Government and police risked ceding control of the country and its streets. Citing the decision of West Midlands Police to ban Israeli football fans from a Europea League match at Aston Villa in November, Mr Jenrick warned that the “fight against Islamism is the fight of our generation”.

A friend phoned me this afternoon for a chat, she lives in a house which is adapted for disability, all the houses in that area are for disabled tenants, they pay £20 a month each for "services", things like grass cutting etc and to be gritted in winter. Not a scrap of grit have they seen, in fact she said she saw 3 men in a lorry appear the other day, one got out, they looked at it, they did nothing, they drove away. Place is all iced up and people who cannot do it for themselves because of whatever disability they have, hence the service charge.

Lauren Booth, a British-born Muslim convert and pro-Palestine campaigner, said people were picking up the Koran after the Hamas attacks because of the “steadfastness” of the Gazan people. The 58-year-old, who now lives in Istanbul, also suggested that she had been “annoyed” with Palestinians on an earlier visit to Gaza because they were “not determined to hate all Jews or just take Jewish life”. Ms Booth, who is the half-sister of Cherie Blair, Sir Tony’s wife, converted to Islam in 2010 after a “spiritual awakening” in Iran. She recently rallied behind Palestine Action supporters who are on hunger strike. In an interview with Yeni Safak, a Turkish newspaper, Ms Booth predicted that “millions” of people would “accept Islam” following the October 7 attacks. “I remember in 2001 after 9/11, that it was said that 500,000 Americans bought the Holy Koran,” she said. “And when you hear the reports now, they say ‘I bought it because I was angry, I wanted to see what those crazy Muslims were up to’, and still, they took their shahada [the Muslim profession of faith].

“After October 7, this October 7 – a legendary day in the Ummah’s history, yes? – we can say that people are now picking up the Koran because of the steadfastness and sabr [patience] of the people of Gaza, specifically to find the beauty in the Koran. “How many millions will accept Islam because of this? Only Allah knows. We’re at a tipping point in history. Don’t be downhearted. Be steadfast. Be strong. Carry on the struggle however you can.” The Arabic word Ummah refers to the Muslim community throughout the world. Elsewhere in the interview, Ms Booth said: “I got a little bit annoyed with the Palestinians when I met them at first because I thought they had Stockholm syndrome. “Because not only were they not determined to hate all Jews or just take Jewish life, they said Allah will sort this out for us, Allah is our judge, we must be steadfast. And I was so angry that I said you really need to be resisting this in a different way.”
