What is an Autogynephile?
An autogynephile (AGP) is a heterosexual man who harbors a fetish for imagining
himself as a woman through dress-up and roleplay. Also known as cross-dressers or
transvestites, AGPs objectify women, and emulate sexualized stereotypes of women
and girls as nymphomaniacs and pinup models, or "sissified" submissives. Sometimes
they purchase women's clothing for these sessions, but often they steal items from
their wives, daughters, and other women to wear while they masturbate or roleplay
with a partner. The situations in which the involvement of others is non-consensual are
what makes this deviant behavior problematic and potentially dangerous to women.
The AGP often gets his thrill through the violation of the boundaries of women and
girls. He enjoys infiltrating women's changing rooms and locker rooms to derive
excitement from the discomfort of the women who have no way of knowing what his
motive is for being there. Many portray themselves as minor girls or hyper-feminine
anime characters, and attempt to engage with minors on social media, AGPs are
justifiably viewed with suspicion due to their penchant for these unsavory trespasses
on the privacy of women.
As a result of transgender activism, along with the post-modern sex-positivity
movement against kink-shaming, AGPs were able to conflate their fetish with gender
dysphoria to include themselves with transgendered people in the trans rights
movement. Because there is no way for women to distinguish between an AGP and a
transsexual person, women are forced to be unwilling participants in their sexual
roleplay in every space that is declared to be "gender neutral".
