It's a look back at five decades of impact, and a look forward to what fair and sustainable development cooperation should look like today and tomorrow. We're particularly proud that during our 50th year of commitment, Bitcoin has become a part of our journey!

For many of our students at Les Génies school in Ntarama, Rwanda, the year 2025 was a very special moment. The school year is over, with report cards, graduation certificates, and lots of pride! 💪📚
They celebrated together with their families and the entire school community. It was a day full of joy, confidence, and hope for a better future. ✨
The Les Génies project has a clear mission: equal educational opportunities for all children in the region. Thanks to your support, learning materials, books, computers, and furniture were purchased, so that every child has the opportunity to surpass themselves. 🌍❤️

Today, we got a christmas recipe for you from our project team in Argentina! Pan Dulce is a real highlight of the christmas season in Argentina and many other Latin American countries. This sweet, moist yeast cake, also known as “panettone,” is traditionally enjoyed during advent and is an integral part of family celebrations.

Here's the recipe for you:
Ingredients:
• 500g flour
• 100g sugar
• 10g dry yeast
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 pinch of salt
• 250ml (plant-based) milk
• 50g margarine
• 100g dried fruit (raisins, apricots, dates)
• 50g nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation:
1. Mix the yeast, sugar, and lukewarm milk in a bowl and let rest for 10 minutes until the mixture foams.
2. Mix the flour, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl, add the yeast mixture and melted margarine, and knead into a smooth dough.
3. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until it has doubled in size.
4. Roughly chop the dried fruit and nuts and knead into the dough.
5. Place the dough in a greased or parchment-lined pan and let rise for another 30 minutes.
6. Bake at 180°C for approx. 35-40 minutes until the pan dulce is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

✨ The result? A wonderfully fluffy and fruity-sweet pan dulce that is guaranteed to warm hearts! 💚

What does it mean?

In March, our KHW project manager travelled to Mali to visit our health and education projects. Meeting the children, talking to parents and local staff, and seeing the changes on the ground, especially the kids’ smiles, was a powerful reminder of why we do this.

These visits matter. Sitting together with our local partners, we can speak openly, ask questions, and build real trust. Face to face is where true cultural understanding grows, and that’s the best way to make sure we’re responding to actual needs in Mali and in our other project countries.

Finally, our on-site visits also help us monitor the projects better: we see what’s working, what’s not, and can catch problems early instead of reading about them in a report months later.
