I need more jiujitsu mat space too. That's awesome! I saw a video recently where a guy used a guard pulling the defend himself from a knife, and it actually worked. Guard pulling might be garbage for a lot of circumstances, but keeping your vitals away from the blade is probably one of the best uses...
