Vibe coding: “Let me use AI to develop a solution for a problem I have. Let me belittle the AI as I tell it how stupid it is for not understanding what I meant with my prompts. After some hours I will either have an unmaintainable solution that I don’t understand enough to build upon or explain to anyone OR I will have a half-baked solution. With a half-baked solution I can either spend twice the amount of time to finish it or trash it and start how I should have started in the first place - understand the problem enough that I can explain it to somebody non-technical.”

The lesson here is that AI is a tool. It is not a buddy coder that you can abuse into doing your work for you. If you have a very specific task that you can easily verify was done correctly, then use that tool 🔨

Don’t expect recklessly flinging a hammer around your house will hang up all those new picture frames that your wife brought home yesterday.

I use to view pride as sinful. It is after all one of the seven deadly sins. But I have come to view it as a virtue. It is the golden mean between undue humility and vanity. Both are opposite extremes of pride - one being deficient and the other in excess.

A properly proud person has an accurate assessment of their own worth, neither boasting about achievements nor downplaying genuine accomplishments.

It never sat right with me to view pride purely as sinful. The thought always came back to me as I watched DBZ in my younger days with the prideful Vegeta. His pride wasn’t always something I considered bad.

I was curious about the word “fiat”. I looked it up.

What it is: A currency that has value because a government declares it has value 🫠

I knew this already, but what I didn’t know was that the word orignates from Latin (shocker) and has the literal meaning of “to become” or “to be made”.

The word fiat explains perfectly what it is: “Let this be money” 😂

Learned something new today.
