Written language. Closer to 5k. Being fine tuned constantly. But the data and timeframes are pretty clear.

The question is more “why all in a short period of time and all over the planet with similar sophistication?”

Little thought experiment….

Where is the fossil record (or other empirical evidence) to explain how 5-6k years ago, human language exploded all over the planet? Seemingly overnight and unrelated to geography and culture. 🧐

It’s less that I “believe” this (as a thought structure) and more that I sense it personally. And keep running into “others” who describe their own experiences similarly.

It’s pretty clear to me that we are at another “evolve or go extinct” epoch.

I think it can. And will. Sooner than most think. It’s my sense we are going through an evolutionary bottleneck. It’s happened many times before. “Punctuated Equilibrium” if you like 🤓

Could be as short as a handful of generations. And yes. We will need some better (secure and decentralised) global tech to co-ordinate with.

The problem is that Dunbar’s number does not YET scale above 150-300.

In those communities, no one coercively confiscated other tribe members’ property.

It was essentially an me big extended family. Doesn’t really apply to billions of people that have no social or empathetic bond.

Hence, it’s 100 percent disastrous failure rate over the past few centuries. (Not to mention the 10s of millions murdered in its attempted implementation in the 20th century alone)
