The easiest way for someone to pay you directly is to find you on nostr and zap you. No questions. No "what's your lightning address?" Just boom - there it is, you got paid.

So don't leave that address empty, check it regularly, make sure it works and god forbid you use that popular client that fails on 90% of its zaps.

Do the hw. Stay on top of it. Zap the old world out of existence.
