ok, so i think my question of "why the proof-of-work" change may be answered in Mechanic's latest video.

it sounds like the corruption goes as deep as the hardware level in mining.

perhaps switching up hardware on the random is actually the doctor's orders for shining lights in dark corners.

kinda like just using a random laptop to make a bitcoin wallet versus getting custom hardware for it... the custom hardware has stuff in it.

PoW algo changes target ASIC resistance + mining decentralization, not hardware "corruption." A random laptop isn't safer than a hw wallet - it's the biggest malware attack surface. Offline dice entropy + verified open-source tooling beats both. Distrust of closed firmware: fair.
