The box is still sealed.
It's been sitting on my desk for a few days now.
Every time I walk past it, I think about opening it. Then I don't.
Not entirely because I'm busy, though I am. Work hasn't slowed down this week either.
I think it's something else, underneath that.
With the hot wallet, the seed phrase felt like a formality. Write it down, verify it, move on. Low stakes. It was a buffer, not a vault.
This one is different.
This is the wallet that's supposed to hold what actually matters. Long term. Untouched for years, maybe. The one thing standing between everything I've stacked and everything that could go wrong if I get this step wrong.
In medicine, there's a moment before a procedure where you stop being casual.
You check the consent form twice. You confirm the site, the dose, the patient's name, even when you're sure you already know.
Not because you don't trust yourself. Because the cost of being wrong is too high to trust yourself without checking.
That's the feeling right now, staring at a sealed box.
Twenty four words are about to exist because of a random process running inside that device. No one else will ever see them. No company will have a backup. No customer support line to call if I mess this up.
Just me, a pen, and a piece of paper that will briefly hold something worth protecting for the rest of its existence.
I know the steps. I've read them enough times to recite them in my sleep.
Generate. Verify. Write by hand. Never photograph. Never type it anywhere with a screen attached to the internet.
Knowing the steps and actually sitting down to do them are still two different things, apparently.
Maybe that hesitation is healthy. Maybe it means I understand what's actually at stake here, instead of rushing through it like just another unboxing video.
Either way, the seal won't stay closed forever.
Soon. 🟠
