I don't see that as a deal-breaker for mass adoption. The "new way" (NIP 17?) doesn't work either. Or maybe implementations of it don't? I've had conversations disappear. Old messages not show up until months later. DM's on Nostr are shit in general. Until they are reliable as traditional electronic text communication (where previous messages don't disappear, and errors are given if a messages doesn't reach its destination) we should be putting contact info in our profiles.
