Good article. The monero avoidance goes even further back in time. Since at least 2017 or so was the most voted feature request and completely ignored.
I've wrote an app for self-hosted email that runs from the phone and/or laptops. Encryption is good, but even better is when emails don't even get hosted at someone else's servers and you carry them directly with you (with encrypted storage, of course).
In essence can even send/receive emails at long distance using radiowaves instead of internet. All of this is a lonely work, if you could evaluate what is being done with geogram at the end of this year I'd be grateful.
