It worked that way here (Australia). A "popular front" developed from Independents banding together under a common teal banner — opposing the blue of conservative Liberals, the red of socialist-adjacent Labor¹, and the Orange of the far-right — while each keeping to their own policies and they did very well.

1: Socialist-adjacent as they haven't been further left than centrist-conservative for decades.
