Are bitcoiners getting dumber over time?

While I haven't been around long enough to say it's getting worse, I've been thinking about similar things in my fiat career.

In uni, I had colleagues who were great at coding and at large areas of maths, but who were idiots at statistics. I think they just couldn't deal with uncertainty. I imagine they wouldn't be good at game theory, for similar reasons

Even in Bitcoin, I've noticed people who've coded good bitcoin stuff for many years, but who say strange things like "miners won't do things that are bad for the class of miners". Selfish miners will do what's good for them individually, even if it's harmful for miners as a class

And sometimes people will do things that are slightly harmful for themselves, just to troll other people with something that's even more harmful

Finally, some people in Bitcoin are obsessed with top-down institutions and therefore assume that everything that happens can be traced to an institution. For example, if a few dozen noderunners relax their mempool policy then it will have an effect, and there is no point arguing and trying to find an authority to blame
