Fiat System Strikes Again: Bank Freezes Activist’s Account and Rp80M in Donations During Jakarta Protests Jakarta, IDN Times — Supriyono (aka Botok), coordinator of the United Pati Community Alliance (AMPB), reports that his Bank Mandiri account was frozen out of nowhere on Friday, August 21, 2026. The financial de-platforming hit right as he and his group were protesting government overreach in front of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) in Jakarta. The account held his personal savings alongside public donations raised to cover food and shelter for the peaceful protesters.
Botok confirmed that roughly Rp80.9 million (approx. $5,100 USD) is currently locked up by the legacy bank. He received no prior warning or explanation for the sudden freeze.
"Right now, here in Jakarta, my team and I are being completely suppressed by the system. Last night, they banned my TikTok account. To make matters worse, they targeted my bank account. Both my personal money and over Rp80 million in grassroots donations are completely frozen," Supriyono stated at the Parliament building on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
After presenting proof of the account freeze, Botok noted that this targeted financial chokepoint has left the group struggling to afford basic accommodations in the capital. For now, the protesters are holding the line by relying entirely on decentralized, local mutual aid and peer-to-peer food donations from sympathetic residents.
