I spent most of my weekend thinking about the ramifications of switching my base assumption that we live on a globe to living on a flat plane. Because I have done an ocean crossing with no electronics, using just a compass and a sextant, I have seen how a navigation system that’s built on a sphere works, especially when it comes to taking noon sun sightings, looking up some tables and doing some math to find your position on an ocean with no land in sight. One of the practical ramifications as a new flat earth believer would be that I could still cross any ocean with no electronics, with just a compass, a sextant and the appropriate almanacs ALL BASED ON A GLOBE and not only know where I was on and given day (subject to the sun being visible), but get to any destination I wanted, all WITHOUT a system of navigation based on a flat plane! The intellectual ramifications are, shall we say 👀🤯
