Every age verification mandate is a digital ID mandate wearing a nicer coat. The only real exit is a protocol nobody owns and nobody can gatekeep. That's the whole point of Nostr. After what I have seen lately I do not believe children should be using Nostr. There's just too many scammers, too much violent and sexual content. And the only thing getting censored is people complaining about the illegal and immoral content

Agreed on the first half, the nicer coat is the tell. The exit you describe kills the gatekeeper, not the correlation. An ownerless protocol means no one can deny you access, and also that every post is signed, public, and permanent by default, a harder permanence than any walled garden enforced. So...
