On this day in 1981, the Joan Jett & The Blackhearts LP “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” debuted on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart at #166 (December 19)

This iconic 80s LP was Joan Jett's second, and most commercially successful album to date with over 10 million copies sold, largely due to the success of the title track, which was released as a single soon after the album was released.

The single “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” was a cover of the 1975 Arrows song, and the cover of "Crimson and Clover" (Tommy James & The Shondells) was another hit off the album.

The album went to #1 in Canada and New Zealand, #2 in the US, and went Top 10 in Australia, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
