The excuse so far has been that there are a higher percentage of cheaters on Linux than on Windows, or that opening up Linux support makes it easier to develop cheats for Windows (as it could be possible to fake a Linux environment on Windows). It'll take a while, but eventually the profit loss from ignoring Linux support will be too large to ignore.
